Friday - The last day

Heinrich Wänke starts the days lectures with an exposition on Spectroscopy from Orbit.
describing the operation of the APX (Alpha-Proton-Xray-Spectrometer).
Followed by a talk on the surface chemistry of Mars.
At 11:00am we gather for our course photograph. We didn't find out about it till we arrived that morning, so naturaly Stefanie and Lyuba had to rush home again to get ready. (of course they claimed to have some other reason..)
Friedrich Begemann takes over for a lecture on Planetary Atmospheres
Using the Maxwell-Boltzmann velocity distribution for gasses of different molecular masses to show how atmosphere retention depends on planetary gravitation.
And then fielding some questions.
And finally Gian Ori completes the mornings lectures
with an entertaining exposition on impact craters.

Gregory had planned an adventurous overland journey back to Moscow after the course. Unfortunately this meant that he had to leave Pescara after lunch on Friday.

If you want to find out more about his journey you can read Greg's account of his journey.
