Return from Piano delle Concazze

On the way back down to Piano Provenzana we stop off at an observation point overlooking serveral large craters

then back to Piano Provenzana where we leave our four wheel drive mini-busses for the last time..
and head to the 'Bar Ristorante La Provenzana' for our organised lunch.
Stefania get a drink poured
Jens, Inge, Mihaela and Ljuba at our table.
Then back to the busses for the trip back to Cannizzaro.
On the way back, the people on one of the other busses manage to get the driver to let them off to take pictures of the earthquake damage, so Lucia has to jump out of our bus and round them up so that we can keep to our schedule. I guess broken roads must be a novelty to people in Europe.

On the ride to and from Etna I was trying to get a picture of the cliffside resort of Taormina, where Ljuba had spent a few days prior to the Field Trip, and where we would be dining for our farewell dinner tomorrow night. I think this was about the closest I got to photographing where I thought it was..

A few more roadside scenery shots so you know we have been travelling again..

back at the Workshop venue at Cannizaro

back to the Hotel Baia Verde for the poster session from 17:30 till 20:00.. (although the last shuttles back to the hotels left half an hour earlier, which was a problem for those of us that couldn't tear ourselves away..)
Dinner with Ljuba, Inge, Gilleume, Peter and Angela.

It took considerable effort to prise Inge away from her poster, which was proving annoyingly popular while the rest of us were waiting to go for dinner. We eventually coaxed her away, and ended up at a nice little rooftop pizza resturant back near the Lachea Hotel where Ljuba, Peter and Angela were staying.

Ljuba and Inge wrestling with the complex problem of sorting out the bill. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to argue with Inge at that point...
